Due to the changes of regulation, many are asking where can I ride my Hoverboard? Are Swegways legal? Are you allowed Hoverboards on the road? In this article we highlight some of the myths about the Hoverboard and where you can actually ride them.
Your Hoverboard and Swegway is an all-rounder when it comes to the type of terrain it can ride on. However, this statement also depends on the type of model you choose to purchase. For example, the HUMMER Hoverboard shown above is one of our most robust Swegways yet. With water resistance and shock resistance, we’re sure about the durability of this Hoverboard. However, if you have one of the Classic 6.5 inch Hoverboards for sale, then while these are amazingly reliable, it doesn’t have the water-resistant features or the robustness of the former model.
Nonetheless, SKUDA. have taken the time to test out the Hoverboards on specific surfaces. While we don’t recommend or condone riding them in surfaces that may damage the Hoverboard, we have done it just for you. The SKUDA team have tested it on wooden floors, pavements, cobbled streets, carpets, grass, tarmac, astroturf. Having done so, it is no surprise that our SKUDA. Hoverboards for sale have survived our tests with flying colours. So, where can I ride my Hoverboard, you say? practically anywhere!*
Where can I ride my Hoverboard?
Where can I ride my Hoverboard? well, the only surfaces we haven’t tested our SKUDA Hoverboards are mud and sand. Not that you would want to, but it’s nice to know that your board can perform on all these surfaces bar the latter. Although the Hummer Off-Road Hoverboards are IP54 water-resistant, we don’t condone splashing them everywhere in water and mud.
It goes without saying however that the smoother the surface, the smoother your ride will be. However, if your main goal is to have the smoothest riding experience then perhaps our inflatable 10-inch Mammoth Hoverboards are the one for you. Due to the unique nature of the inflatable tyres, this Hoverboard offers the smoothest ride ever.
When it comes to riding your Hoverboard uphill, your Swegway can handle inclines up to 30 degrees. Also, when it comes to uneven rocky surfaces your board can guide you over small pebbles and rocks. The larger the Hoverboard wheel size, the bigger ground clearance this can offer. But don’t try going up street curbs or down them for that matter. We wouldn’t recommend it, you may hurt yourself or damage your board, ultimately voiding your warranty.
Are Hoverboards illegal on the road?
Many beg the question as to whether or not Hoverboard are illegal on the road. Well, the short answer is yet. CPS have confirmed that you should not ride Hoverboards on public streets. Self-balancing Scooters are powered vehicles and for this reason require a licence to use on the public roads. They are not to be ridden on the pavement either under section 72 of the Highway Act 1835. In Scotland, where the act does not apply, they are still not legal to ride on the pavement under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984. However, riders can still enjoy their Hoverboard in private land and parks under the landowners permission.
So Hoverboards are not illegal providing that you ride them in private areas such as in the home, garden or any other private land. Since this is the place which riders usually enjoy riding their Hoverboard safely, there is nothing to worry about.
